BIOGRAPHY

Caro's paintings are characterised by the exquisite use of heightened colour combined with the use of subtle neutral tonality. Rendered with soft, gentle and sensitive brushwork they create a Turneresque glow.

 

The works play with speciality often presenting the viewer with ambiguity as they hover between the abstract and figurative. There is a gentle humour in the work suggestive of personal experience (at times a rendition of pain and memory) with broader observations of human relationships.

 

The anthropomorphic figures placed in an abstract field create a curious dialogue. The interplay of heightened colour and light result in a surface that is ethereal and ephemeral. What could be described as constellations of the mind. Painterly language is refined and distilled, simultaneously presenting as a transitional moment whilst leaving an indelible imprint with the richness of the palette.

 

It stimulates visual perception and requires time and close observation of the methods employed by the artist to fully understand their depth.
